Until we relate to food primarily for what it really is, fuel for our body, we are condemned to being overweight for life and suffer all the physical and emotional problems being overweight brings.
It's like putting gas in your car. You would not try to overfill your gas tank. It would be a waste and would damage your car. But that is what you've been doing if you are overweight. Eating more, and may be poor quality, fuel than your body wants or needs. And you are hurting yourself as a consequence.
But even knowing this and just resolving to change the way you relate to food rarely works in the long run. That is because the problem rests with the habits and beliefs you have developed about food, probably since you where very young. And habits and beliefs are created and stored in your subconscious mind, not your logical, conscious mind.
