Self-hypnosis for success - have you ever heard of it? It's like a secret ingredient that can help you achieve amazing things in life! I've always been fascinated by how our minds work, and let me tell you, self-hypnosis has been a game-changer for me. It's been a wild and wonderful ride, and I'm thrilled to share my story with you. Get ready to be inspired!
As a teenager, I wasn't exactly what you'd call a "star student." I struggled with subjects that didn't interest me and left high school with very few qualifications. People told me I wasn't cut out for university, but I didn't let that get me down
At 19, I set off on a grand adventure to Kathmandu with just £100 in my pocket. I travelled through many countries, experiencing new cultures and facing unexpected challenges. Looking back, I realize my subconscious mind, free from any major trauma, played a significant role in my journey. I had this deep-seated belief that everything would always work out for the best, and guess what? It did!
A few years later, I found myself in Canada, a proud father to a beautiful baby girl. The responsibility of providing for my daughter made me think seriously about my future. Farming had always appealed to me, but I lacked the necessary qualifications. I decided to attend a diploma program at McGill University, hoping to gain some skills.
During my interview, the lecturer suggested I pursue an agricultural degree instead. To my surprise, I blurted out, "But I'm not university material!" It was a limiting belief I had carried with me since high school. However, the seed of doubt had been planted.
Around the same time, I stumbled upon a weekend hypnosis course. I'd always been fascinated by the mind, but a previous attempt to study psychology had left me bored. This hypnosis workshop was different! It was an intensive experience that opened my eyes to the incredible potential of the mind. I was hooked!
Inspired by my newfound knowledge, I decided to apply hypnosis to my academic aspirations. I enrolled in a one-year program for mature students, which would allow me to apply to university upon completion. As I practised self-hypnosis, something magical happened. Making these decisions and taking action felt effortless and completely natural.
Fast forward four years, and to everyone's astonishment, I graduated with a BSc with Honours from McGill University! I had conquered physics, chemistry, statistics, and even math, a subject I had previously failed miserably in. My newfound confidence in using self-hypnosis to achieve my goals was truly remarkable.

I had conquered physics, chemistry, statistics, and even math, a subject I had previously failed miserably in. My newfound confidence in using self-hypnosis to achieve my goals was truly remarkable.
Hypnosis is not a magic wand; it requires effort and taking action towards achieving your goals. However, when your subconscious mind is aligned with your conscious goals, it's like having a powerful ally by your side, opening doors and guiding you towards your dreams.
Soon after graduation, I was offered an incredible job as the Director of a provincial farmers' association, without even applying! One of my professors had offered me the position during a meeting where I had intended to ask for a reference. I spent the next few years travelling the province, working with farmers, organizing workshops, and representing their interests to the government. It was everything I had ever wanted!
During this time, I also volunteered for various organizations, served on provincial and national boards, got divorced, remarried, and welcomed a wonderful son into my family. My academic journey continued as I pursued an MA while working full-time. Life felt like an amazing tapestry unfolding before me. Self-hypnosis continued to be my secret weapon, helping me overcome challenges, excel in my studies, and find creative solutions.
After a dozen or so years, I received an unexpected message from my subconscious mind. Despite enjoying my career, I felt an unsettling feeling that change was on the horizon. Through self-hypnosis, I explored these feelings and realized that I wanted to find new ways to use the skills obtained while studying for my MA.
Once again, before having started to develop a conscious strategy to achieve my new found goals, without actively seeking it, a new opportunity presented itself. I was invited to join an international management consulting firm, allowing me to utilize my organizational development skills and academic knowledge. The move felt right, even though it meant saying goodbye to a significant part of my life.
This new chapter brought exciting experiences, including working with First Nations people across Northern Canada and managing large projects around the world. Within two years, I became a partner and later the Chairperson of the company. My thirst for knowledge led me to pursue a PhD. Self-hypnosis, of course, played a crucial role in my academic success at this level as well.
Where there is a consultant there has to be a workshop

However, I had learned the valuable lesson of paying attention to my subconscious mind's whispers. My PhD studies were demanding, and I found myself wanting to spend more time with my family and enjoy my hobbies. After careful consideration and despite having completed the degree up to the level of passing the comprehensive exams and having my thesis proposal accepted, I made the difficult decision to resign from the program. It felt right, even though it meant letting go of a significant investment of time and money.
While my consulting job was challenging and fulfilling, that familiar unsettling feeling resurfaced after another dozen years. This time, it was accompanied by an intense desire to share the gift of self-hypnosis with a wider audience.
I immersed myself in hypnosis certification courses and devoured every book on the subject I could find. Self-hypnosis helped me navigate this new path and understand the direction I needed to take. I resigned from my consulting position and established a hypnosis clinic at the Queen Elizabeth Health Complex in Montreal. My colleagues were puzzled by my decision, but I trusted my intuition.
Within a couple of months, I had a three-week waiting list for client appointments, which only continued to grow. It was confirmation that I had made the right choice by listening to my inner voice. I found immense satisfaction in helping others transform their lives through hypnosis.
Despite the success of my practice, that persistent feeling returned once again another decade or so later. Within three months of exploring it through self-hypnosis, I retired from my practice from the Health Complex. It might have seemed illogical, but it felt absolutely right. My passion for hypnosis didn't disappear; it simply took a different form. I continued to share my knowledge and coach people through my website.
My retirement years were filled with local volunteer work, international travel, and sailing with my wife. I served as the Harbour Master at our yacht club, the Commander of the local coast guard unit, a city councillor. It was amazing how listening to my subconscious mind had led me to such fulfilling experiences.
Life, however, has a way of throwing curve-balls. I was diagnosed with a serious medical condition, which has brought my travel and volunteering to a halt for now. It is a challenging time for me and my loved ones, but I turned once again to self-hypnosis for support.
A knowledgeable person once taught me to ask, "What good will come of this?" no matter how difficult the situation. I embraced this principle and used self-hypnosis to further cultivate a positive attitude. Despite the circumstances, I've experienced profound personal growth, deepening relationships, and an overwhelming sense of gratitude for life and the kindness I am receiving from others during this period of my life.
Life is a constant journey of growth and discovery. My story is a testament to the incredible power of self-hypnosis in shaping our lives. It has guided me through challenges, opened doors to unexpected opportunities, and helped me find fulfillment and purpose.
